As a longtime social entrepreneur and founder of the hybrid enterprise, EcoMom / EcoMom Alliance, Kimberly Danek Pinkson is a sought after media guest, keynote speaker, and green lifestyle consultant. She is an authentic voice with a background in sustainability which began over 30 years ago. While most of her friends were going to Girl Scout camp, Kimberly and her sister spent their holidays with indigenous elders and shamans, courtesy of her father, a psychologist who works with native peoples around the world. This imbued Kimberly with a sense of global interconnection that has been a driving force in her life and eventually led to the idea for EcoMom – the non-profit organization and lifestyle brand behind a global movement.
A National Youth Leadership Award winner and graduate from UCLA and the University of Hawaii (BA with honors, in Psychology and Dance), Kimberly turned a prior career in dance (co-founding two youth outreach dance companies and touring and performing around the world with artists and companies such as Will Smith and Culture Shock) into mind-body health and healing work as a Pilates rehabilitation instructor to Olympic Athletes in the Lake Tahoe area and Eastern Europe. Kimberly relates to and brings together, a wide range of experience across a myriad of cultures in a wide array of sectors. She is one of those rare individuals who is equally at ease among a group of scientists discussing climate change, a group of mothers talking pre-schools, or a Board of Directors pondering economics and ecology.
With a global platform from Mumbai to Minneapolis, the Congo to Costa Mesa, Kimberly’s story of founding EcoMom is an inspiring example of business for a sustainable tomorrow. She is a regular contributor to websites and parenting magazines and her "Ask EcoMom" column is a popular feature among The Cradle readers. She has recently appeared on The TODAY Show, 20/20, ABC Evening News, CBS Evening News, KGO’s View from the Bay and a host of regional television programs. Kimberly is equally comfortable in front of or behind the camera and just enjoys bringing together ideas and people who would not otherwise meet.
