Jake Steinfeld is known as the 'founding father' of the personal fitness training industry. He was the first person to turn personal training from a hobby into an occupation and achieved celebrity status by working with distinguished clients such as Steven Spielberg, Harrison Ford, Bette Midler, Priscilla Presley, George Lucas and many others.
Jake is a Wall Street Journal and New York Times best-selling author. He has appeared in several major motion pictures, starred in over 100 episodes of his own sitcom for the Family Channel, Big Brother Jake, and hosted hundreds of episodes of his own Body By Jake television show for ESPN.
Jake's success on television led to the development of FitTV, which he sold to News Corp in 1999. He also partnered with Comcast, Time Warner and New Balance to create Exercise TV, the world's only on-demand fitness television network. Jake continued to set trends by founding the first ever professional outdoor lacrosse league in 2001, Major League Lacrosse. The league has captured the attention of numerous best-in-class sponsors and has a 10-year television agreement with ESPN2.
In addition to his entrepreneurial endeavors, Jake takes an active role in the community and fosters positive change amongst youth. In 1998, Jake founded the DON'T QUIT!® Foundation, which establishes DON'T QUIT!® fitness centers in inner city middle and high schools nationwide. Appointed by Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jake also chairs the California Governor's Council on Physical Fitness and Sports, which set a record level of participation in 2009 with over 400,000 California students accepting the Governor’s Fitness Challenge.
Jake has always had a vision of finding simple, fun ways to inspire and motivate people to get fit and stay healthy. This philosophy translated into the building of the Body By Jake brand which to date has sold over $1B worth of fitness products nationwide.
